TAXONOMIC ILLUSTRATION OF ASTERACEAE

The present book deals with the morphological observations of 33 species from three tribes of the Asteraceae family, Vernonieae (Phyllocephalum, Vernonia, Elephantopus, and Struchium), Eupatorieae (Adenostemma, Ageratum, Eupatorium, and Mikania) and Astereae (Aster, Conyza, Dichrocephala, Erigeron, and Solidago). The descriptions were based on field observations, duly supported by illustrated diagrams. The family Asteraceae produces essential foods, garden plants, and herbal remedies, making it significant commercially. The family is economically important since they provide essential oils such as sunflower and safflower. Numerous plants are helpful in traditional medicine also. Hence, through the present book, a brief listing of the three tribes of Asteraceae is done.
