Der Band versammelt Beiträge zur Tagung der Paul-Gerhardt-Gesellschaft 2025 an des Dichters letztem Wirkungsort Lübben/Spree. Im Blick sind neben dem letzten Kausalgedicht Gerhardts das Testament an seinen Sohn, die Verbreitung der Lieder in Gesangbüchern der Niederlausitz, auch im sorbischen Sprachbereich und in ganz Deutschland in der Zeit nach seinem Tod, bis Gerhardt neben Luther namentlich bereits im Buchtitel erscheint. Auch das neu entdeckte Lied auf den Tod eines Kindes wird vorgestellt.

[»Brave People Deserve Praise …« Paul Gerhardt in Lübben – and the Lasting Impact of His Hymns]
This volume contains contributions to the 2025 conference of the Paul Gerhardt Society in Lübben/Spree, the poet's last place of work. In addition to Gerhardt's last causal poem, it focuses on his will to his son, the dissemination of his songs in hymnals in Lower Lusatia, also in the Sorbian-speaking region and throughout Germany in the period after his death, until Gerhardt appeared alongside Luther by name in the title of the book. The newly discovered song on the death of a child is also presented.
