Systemic Assessment of the Implant Patient

Implant surgery aims to offer the patient with dental loss a new contour with dental rehabilitation that allows them to feel good again both functionally and aesthetically. The patients in dental procedures that most require a strict control of systemic conditions are those who will undergo surgical procedures, in this range are implant placements, highlighting that most of them are patients who have lost their teeth throughout their life, therefore, the age range is high. In the United States, the population of older adult patients requiring implant treatment is estimated at 12% and this figure is expected to reach 21% by 2030. This range of the population is the one that usually has the greatest involvement of other systemic pathologies; a review of the most important systemic changes in the implant candidate patient that should be considered before, during and after implant procedures will be presented in this book.
