Synthesis of Fly Ash brick for high temperature furnace lining

This book describes the, attempt that has been made to develop bricks by utilizing the fly ash disposed by Rourkela Steel Plants. The main motive behind developing this brick is to meet all the requirements that is required for it to be used in high temperature furnaces. Fly ash bricks has been made by earlier by mixing mixtures, compacting, drying and then firing. But we have prepared the brick by means of spark plasma sintering technique to achieve maximum densification and wear resistance of the sample so that it can resist the aggressive conditions within a high temperature furnace. The sintered sample was characterised and the results obtained were compared to the refractory bricks that are used in the smelting furnaces of HindalCo Industries, Hirakud for the production of molten aluminum.
