Ion beams in science and technology continue to provide new possibilities in sample characterization, analysis, development of materials, modification of the selective properties etc. Ion beam methods provide a highly controllable set of tools which can be used for investigation systematically at the atomic level and ultimately controlled and exploited at the macroscopic level. Here we have made an effort to study the luminescence properties (Ionoluminescence, photoluminescence and Thermoluminescence) of ion beam induced rare earth doped silicate nanophosphors. And we have observed that the material properties varies with ion beam irradiation. The structural characterization like powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform Infrared spectroscopy carried for pristine and ion beam irradiated samples gives the evidence for material modification using ion beam irradiation.
