Sustainable Food Production and Organic Farming

Book annotates about the evolution of organic agriculture as an eco-friendly food production technique towards feeding the world healthy food with sufficient quantities. Organic agriculture is more than a farming technique ¿ it is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of synthetic inputs with undesirable effects on environment and living beings in particular. Organic agriculture amalgamates tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved. Through organic farming, global greenhouse gas emissions could be reduced significantly to mitigate climate change as well. Elimination of world hunger could be achieved by increasing the access to food - not simply the production in the expense of the most important natural resources of the Earth (i.e. soil, water and biodiversity) and the health of all living beings. Also, increasing the proportion of agriculture that uses sustainable, organic methods of farming is not a choice but, a necessity.
