Informal citations are bibliographic information (title or Internet address), citing sources of information resources for informal scholarly communication and always neglected in traditional citation databases (such as Web of Science and Scopus) . This study is done, in order to answer the question of whether informal citations in the web environment are traceable or not. The present research aims to determine what proportion of web citations of Google search engine is related to formal and informal citations. The method that is used to extract the web citation from Google search engine is ¿Web / URL citation extraction".
