SURGICAL APPROACHES IN IMPLANT DENTISTRY

With the increase in demand to restore the function of missing teeth due to various factors dental implants were introduced. Currently implant supported restorations are the ideal replacements in situations varying from near to ideal missing teeth to complex bone availability sites in the oral cavity with good predictable results in terms of stability and function. For success of implant, integration between the implant surface and the bone is required. So, it is important to be familiar with the anatomic structures pertaining to dental implantology as it helps to review and preplan the surgical procedures beforehand to avoid any problems. Appropriate selection of the implant by accurate diagnosis and treatment planning must be closely followed to provide an ideal platform to restore esthetics and function.
