Superior - Subordinate Relations in Different Organizational Settings

The superiors¿ task is to see that the organization functions well so that the goals of the organization are met. For this purpose, the superior exercises certain amount of power to make subordinates work. The So, power is not a dirty secret, but secret to success. One should use the influence tactics most likely to be successful with the individual, one is trying to influence. Different techniques are effective with different people. It makes good sense to use the strategy that is most likely to be most effective. The organizations differ with regard to their stated objectives. In order to achieve the objectives, the leader and the subordinates have different types of roles and relations. This book aimed at studying whether the leaders behave differently in different organizations in influencing the subordinates¿ work behavior and how the subordinates perceive their superiors¿ behavior and their relation with job satisfaction, job involvement, work involvement and organization climate using a survey study with 300 each superiors and subordinates from three organizations, viz., Banks, Schools and Government Offices.
