Sudan Media Outlets and the Quest for National Unity

Sudan has been at war with itself for several decades, which has resulted in millions of death and displaced thousands all across the world.media on the other hand has always been used by the elite in northern Sudan all through the different successive regimes as a weapon of war rather than a tool for peace, making it an ideological apparatus to maintain their interest and political hegemony,this book analyses different theories linking media,conflict,ideology and identity to establish the Sudanese problem.it also attempts to explain the root causes of the Sudanese conflict and the major role the media has played in the build up towards the 2011 referendum in which southern Sudanese vote for unity or secession from Sudan. focusing on media outlets especially on-line media Sudanese newspapers and the ideology they try to spread with emphasis on editorials and columns.it also looks to possible scenarios after the 2011 January referendum.
