Study on the Challenges in Controlling Corruption in Nigerian Custom

This research study highlights the various corrupt practices that exist in Nigerian Custom Department, simultaneously fused with the citizens perception towards the mode of service delivery by the Nigerian Custom workers.Conversely, Nigerian Custom Department, being one of the stronghold public offices that generates huge fiscal revenue for the country and having been enlisted as one of the major public organizations that has stench of unsalvageable corruption situation which the propelling factors are as a result of negligence in taking a substantive approaches in controlling corruption in this department and political factor. Inarguably, this unsatisfactory identity of the Nigerian Customs Service System, obviously has affected the international business partnership between Nigeria and other countries, therefore leads to the massive decline of gross domestic product in the Nigerian Economy.Secondly, this paper suggested the need of Citizens active participation in the fight against corruption in this very department which will definitely make the work of anti-corruption department much easier in reducing corruption in this department.
