Study on Some Economic Aspects of Important Forage Crops in WB,India

Micro-level study of this dissertation has set both challenges as well as opportunities concerning fodder development vis-à-vis animal husbandry development in the State. Studying the cost-return analysis of fodder crops, we find that there is an enormous scope to introduce fodder as a major component in present farming systems. On the one hand, farmers can have more income, more employment and more security from growing of fodder crops. On the other, development of animal husbandry through greens will conserve and enhance quality of natural resources. An integrated approach embracing financial, marketing and other institutes will usher in a new environment in rural West Bengal, India.
