Study of a New Kind of Awnings Combined with Solar Panels

Using a technology while it provides its user with a visible experience can be described as the most engaging kind of technology. Furthermore, cities are overpopulating as the years pass by and the need for building integrated renewable systems arises in order to eliminate the energy demand which comes from fossil fuels. But, as most of the renewable systems nowadays are destined to be used in open fields and in large amounts, their penetration to urban areas still remains a challenge. A renewable energy system, which other than energy yielding can provide with another function for its user is compelling. ¿Solar Awnings¿ is a renewable system which can be incorporated in the building facades by replacing traditional awnings while having the same functionality and providing the same services. Replacing already used mechanisms with renewable systems, which have the possibility of profit by energy yielding and reduction of the use of fossil fuels is examined.
