The work in this research highlights the synthesis and antibacterial evaluation of azo dyes of new coumarin derivatives. We have synthesized some novel derivatives of coumarin by Betti¿s protocol and further azo dyes of these derivatives. The research work includes also deals with new oxazine heterocycles synthesized from 7-Hydroxy-4-methyl coumarin by Betti¿s procedure. All the products were well characterized using modern instrumental techniques. Some of these azo dyes were screened against Gram +ve and -ve bacteria and also tested for color fastness. Majority of the compounds showed moderate to excellent antibacterial activity against both the organisms.
