Studies on Direct Alcohol Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

Fuel cells are actively being researched for use as distributed power units and vehicular power sources. Because of their high efficiency and friendliness to the environment, the early adoption of fuel cells as new energy resources in practical applications is anticipated. Among the fuel cell types, direct alcohol fuel cell (DAFC) is the most feasible candidate to Li-ion batteries as the power source for portable applications in the future, and is now under rapid development. This is mainly because of its high energy density, simple structure, and rapid operations. This book primarily address the upcoming options of using functionally superior materials as membrane and catalyst to replace/modify the existing catalyst and membrane materials in DAFCs.
