Student's Information Use and Search Behaviour on Social Media

Many of today's' younger students can be thought of as digital natives; surrounded by cell phones, computers, the Internet, and all the necessities of the digital age. Therefore, it is only natural for them to exhibit new pattern of information use that engages more digital media and resources. This study described the results of a survey carried out on students in tertiary institutions in Kano state, Nigeria. The aim was to achieve a deeper understanding on the students¿ use of social media looking critically into their information needs and the strategies employed while seeking for information as this digital culture is said to have influence on students' skills and preferences in a number of key areas especially those related to education.
