Structural Performance of Cold-Formed Steel Composite Beams

There is a sharp rise in the construction of cold formed steel (CFS) structures, primarily due to the promising features of CFS, which makes it the ideal choice for low cost as well as fast track construction. CFS sections are vulnerable to multiple buckling modes due to their thin walled elements thus making it one of the challenging problems in structural engineering which needs to be addressed with innovative solutions. The adoption of CFS members with lightweight materials as composite sections as well as suitable stiffening arrangements have a great potential to overcome the inherent buckling problems associated with it. This book presents an extensive experimental study conducted on various CFS composite beams using low cost lightweight packing materials as well as some novel stiffening arrangements applicable to CFS beams for their best structural performance.
