Strategies for sustainable tourism in Togo

The role of tourism in boosting the economy is no longer in question, as it is now a source of multiple financial revenues for the community through entrance fees and guide fees, the purchase of handicrafts, accommodation, catering and visitor transport. However, this tourism development is not always accompanied by a careful approach that places particular emphasis on preserving the tourism product so that it can be passed on to future generations. This book identifies the opportunities, threats and typologies of tourism, and then provides key information on the benefits and prerequisites for sustainable tourism. It proposes a methodological approach for converting the colonial site of Kamina into a sustainable tourism industry, in order to contribute not only to its preservation, but also to making it a dynamic driving force for sustainable development in Togo.
