Beschreibung

The strut and tie model is a rational method and widely accepted design approach for RC deep beams. Various design codes like ACI 318, AASHTO LRFD and Euro Code2 incorporated the strut and tie approach for the design of RC deep beams. In strut and tie method, strut is a major component through which compressive force is transferred to the supports and strength reduction factor which is termed as strut efficiency factor is used to ensure the safety and uncertain behaviour of the strut and consequently the behaviour of deep beam. The above mentioned codes suggest different provision of strut efficiency factor. Few deep beams opted from literature were analysed in ATENA 3D software to investigate the influence of compressive strength of concrete, shear span to depth ratio and transverse reinforcement ratio on deep beam which were already known conclusions and these above mentioned conclusions were validated using software. Finally, a parametric study was also conducted on various unknown parameters found from the critical review of literatures like length of bearing plate, grade of transverse reinforcement and arrangement of transverse reinforcement in ATENA 3D.
