Status of silicon in different paddy growing areas

Soil is a nature's gift to a mankind which plays key role in agriculture, ensure food & nutritional security and environmental safety. There are many elements are available in soil which plays significant role in crop production. Among these Silicon (Si) is one of the important beneficial element. This book "Status of silicon in different paddy growing areas" shows a Status of available silicon and its relationship with soil properties in paddy growing soils of middle Gujarat. Rice is a heavy feeder of silicon. It is also known as silicon accumulator and plant benefits much from silicon nutrition. Its content as well as Si /Ca ratio is higher than 1% and therefore, it requires high amounts of silicon for sustained productivity.
