Status and Control Measure of Alien Invasive

Invasive Alien Species (IAS) is the second greatest threat to global biodiversity. So, invasion is becoming global concern conservation arena. Blackbuck Conservation Area (BCA) area has been supporting the highest number of wild population of endangered Blackbuck (BB). The study is carried out to prepare checklist of alien invasive species, appraise species wise status of invasive species and document existing practices for controlling invasive species. Systematic sampling with random start was used in which plot size of 10mx10m to estimate cover percentage of shrub invasive species and a nested plot of 1mx1m to count the grass species were laid out at 100m interval. Simpson Index was calculated to find out the diversity of species and Important Value Index (IVI) to find out dominancy of species were calculated and interpreted accordingly. Out of 49 species recorded, 14 were identified as invasive species among which 11 were recorded from grassland and three from aquatic land. Out of these species Achantherum hymenoids was found most invading (IVI=87.89). In aquatic land, Ipomoea carnea have the highest dominance (60%).
