Statistical analysis in medical schemes research

The purpose of this book is to give readers convenient access to a collection of recent research reports that the author has published in international journals. It has been written as a user-friendly source of information about medical schemes. Medical schemes report on healthcare services provided to members, as well as reimbursement for such services, which provides a wealth of data on medical schemes affording many opportunities for research and exploration of such data. The book is organized into eight chapters, each of which covers a specific research area. The topics covered range from legislation to utilisation of health services and expenditure trends in the private sector. One chapter is dedicated to the provision of health services in the public sector. This chapter reviews literature on challenges faced by poverty-stricken communities in the Eastern Cape Province in accessing care. The book also covers the application of statistical methods in medical schemes data, including Ridge regression, Quantile regression, Logistic Regression, Cox`s regression models. Linear mixed models and Kernel Density Estimations are also covered.
