State of College of Education Libraries in Punjab (India)

Education is as the human race.It is never ending process of inner growth and development and its period stretches from cradle to the grave.It is through education that man develops his thinking and reasoning,problem solving and creativity,intelligence and aptitude,positive sentiments and skills,good values and attitudes.Man learns something everyday and every moment. His entire life is education.Hence education is a continuous and dynamic process.Teacher education is the pivot on any educational system.Its quality and efficacy depends upon the capacity to respond to the socio-economic and cultural contexts of learners and communities.Education colleges are specialized professional training institutions which require a special thought and care before these are set-up teacher education constitutes an important segment of professional education.There are a large number of colleges of education in the Punjab region.These colleges also differ in their infrastructural facilities and user services.A study of three significant factors- Staff, Collection, and Services of these libraries shall be able to show their preparedness for meeting the growing expectations of their user community.
