"STABILITY ANALYSIS FOR YIELD AND QUALITY TRAITS IN WHEAT"

Genotype x Environment interaction1) G x E interaction was detected for the thirteen characters except days to heading.2) Linear component of G x E interaction was significant for all characters except days to heading, days to maturity, No. of tiller/ plant and yield per plant.3) Estimates of environmental indices (Ij) indicated that E2 was most favorable for yield and its components, followed by E1, and E3 environments.The studies on estimate of stability parameters revealed that none of the hybrid stable for all the character. The genotypes PBN-3958,GW-480 and MACS-6222 for grain yield per plant, MP-1323 for number of tillers per plant and harvest index were stable characters which had showed bi value close to unity (bi=1) and non-significant (s2di) indicating its superiority for average response and stability under all environment whereas, UAS-379 suitable for unfavourable environment for grain yield per plant.
