Specialist paramedics inserting chest drains in hazardous environment

The UK paramedic has one of the highest skill-sets in the world. The UK Government have trained hundreds of UK paramedics to respond to a range of technically challenging incidents ranging from large numbers of casualties, incidents involving flooding through to providing specialist pre-hospital care to those unfortunate enough to be trapped within collapsed buildings. These rescues in particular can take many hours and are often in confined space. Treatment must be initiated quickly and failure to do so is likely to result in adverse patient outcomes. This book seeks to explore the possibility of UK paramedics inserting a chest drain into a patient in these challenging situations.
