Spatial Landuse Change & Related Socio-Cultural Aspect in Santiniketan

This book entitled ¿SPATIAL LANDUSE CHANGE & RELATED SOCIO-CULTURAL ASPECT IN SANTINIKETAN WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO GURUPALLY¿ is a product of reconnaissance survey upon the concerned area from geographical point of view. In the introductory part the objective, methodologies and data base of this study, the background of the study area, its location, geographical environment, topography, climate, soil and vegetation have been discussed. Land classification & landuse pattern of Gurupally has been prepared & landuse types have been thrashed out thoroughly. A systematic analysis has been made on the basis of the past & present landuse pattern of Gurupally, changes in the type of residents, landuse change, its effect on environment & society and perception of people towards the changes. The socio-cultural status of Gurupally, family size & household pattern, cultural background, cultural function & festivals, and the perception of residents have been systematically discussed. At the end suggestions have been given for the improvement of the quality of life and to build up a sustainable society and environment.
