Solid Waste Management: A Case Study of Nanded City

For the detailed study we observed the Road Map, Contour Map, Drainage Map, Slop Map and suitable Dumping Site Map of Nanded City. The above maps are useful for the detailed study of minimize the further environmental problems. Nanded city population is 550564 as per the 2011 census. The total area under the NWCMC jurisdiction is 61.44 km2. The solid waste generated in the NWCMC total is 185 MT of MSW equivalents to 336.38 gms / capita /day currently. Nanded City is divided in two parts: Old Nanded (35.3 km2) north of the Godavari river (on the left bank) and New Nanded (31.14 km2) comprising Waghala and six other newly merged villages and CIDCO area, south of the Godavari river. Recently Taroda (Budruk & Khurd) has been included in Nanded Municipal Corporation. Thus, solid waste management includes all administrative, financial, legal, planning, and engineering functions. A disposal site where solid waste, such as paper, glass, and metal, is buried between layers of dirt and other materials in such a way as to reduce contamination of the surrounding land.
