Soft Shell Mud Crab (Scylla serrata) Fattening

The mud crab (Scylla serrata) is widely distributed in the Indo-West-Pacific region as mangrove associated fauna. Being high protein the crabs are valuable food for human consumption. It is an excellent dietary item for humans and is equal in taste to the shrimp. Crab take the replacement of shrimp. Mud crab(Scylla serrata) is high demand items in export market. Now a days, it plays an important role to upliftment the socio-economic condition of poor coastal people in Bangladesh. Crab culture playing important role in economic growth of Bangladesh. The present work is basically the first attempt to determine the suitable water & soil quality, growth rate & mortality for enhancement of soft shell production (a new crab item)in plastic cages.
