Sociocultural Perspective of Environmental Awareness

Since the pre-historic period, man has been interfering with nature. In the primitive age, men faced many problems to inhabit in an environmentally friendly way, but now they have become problem to the nature. Despite the continuous efforts made at national and international levels to counter environmental problems, the pervasive development mentality of "Grow Now, Pay Later" has led to ecological disaster. Therefore efforts have been made throughout the world for developing environmental awareness among people. Does environmental awareness increase with the increase in educational level? What is the pattern of environmental awareness among different categories of people with focus on environmental knowledge, attitude and behavior?
