Socio-economic Impact of Climate Change and Adaptation Strategies

The starting premise of this Book is to highlight the positive and negative impacts of the climate change on water, forests, livestock and agricultural sectors, which contribute to the resilience of local communities in the study area. The expected Positive impacts include enhance crop production, suitability for new crop varieties and improvement of new sites for agriculture, livestock or forestry activities. However, these positive impacts can partly be outplayed by negative impacts such as increased damage or loss from severe weather events, and from increased occurrence of pests/diseases. Warmer temperatures are expected to lead to more problems of weeds, pests and fungi in agriculture and bark beetles and other pests in forestry. Moreover, the book focuses on the adaptation measures adopted by the local communities to cope with the climate change and variability in the study area.
