This book is aimed at enabling social workers to have a good understanding of the concept , characteristics and Gerontological social work and community based Programmes including the role of social worker in the care of Elderly. This is based on realizing the need and role of social worker in improving the quality of life of the Aged.As per works of our revered former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, The three societal members who can make a difference are father, mother and Teacher(Guru). Thus , the significance of a social worker is emphasized in being a guide and counselor, when the child is away from parents.I thank the Lord Almighty who always strengthens me to fulfill my heart¿s desire for a good cause.
