Social Scoring

This book focuses on the potential of music as a social power in our society. It opens up questions about redefining the role that classical music plays in spaces throughout the city while using music as an integrative tool in the activation of public and social spaces. By looking at music as an urban movement, it provides an insight into the spontaneous interactions with music and its urban environment. Hidden away in the concert halls, distanced from the people, classical music is failing to reach new audiences and unable to re-adapt itself to a constantly evolving world. Social Scoring is an urban music movement which aims at discovering new approaches to communicating music, bringing people from different disciplines together and exploring new approaches that are refreshing for musicians and for audiences. By re-connecting with the community, going out into the city, out of the concert halls, classical music can reclaim its position and recognition as a powerful social power that can inspire not only musicians but every sector of society.
