Small Hydro Plants - Estimated Hydropower Potential

This text proposes a methodology to estimate the hydropower potential for river basins, with a focus, but not limited, to the potential with characteristics of a SHP. The estimate comprises from the location and characterization of the site with potential to average energy, or average power, in the river basin. The overall objective is to obtain a viable global potential in the river basin. This text has as specific objectives:use of GIS for the analysis of the technical and environmental aspects in a geo-referenced manner; use the Statistics Hydrology to check the place and water availability; use the law of water resources, of the environment, and of the electricity sector and related legislation that are relevant to the SHP projects.
