Skills Development Programmes within Human Resource Development

The book is based on Masters Dissertation submitted by the author in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Master of Public Administration at the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University, South Africa. It provides an analysis of skills development programmes, processes and practices in the South African public service. It explores the implementation of skills development programmes within the context of human resource development. The book is premised on a case study research conducted in the Eastern Cape Provincial Department of Social Development, South Africa. A qualitative research approach was followed in this study since this approach best complemented the nature of the study. The research design included observation, a thorough literature review and semi-structured interviews.
