Similarities in HIV infection and Certain Cancers Pathophysiology

HIV/AIDS and cancer have become a burden on health care systems especially in resource-limited settings such as sub-Saharan Africa. While HIV/AIDS pandemic has been around for close to 4 decades since the first case was diagnosed in 1981, a sharp rise in cancers, especially in developing countries has been noted recently. This has prompted researchers not only to be creative, but also to rethink and re-imagine the current strategies of their research. This book discusses crucial similarities between Early HIV infection and Chemical Carcinogenesis-associated cancers pathophysiology, which holds the key to our better understanding of the two disorders. The author hopes that the information presented in this book will lead to not only development of new research hypotheses but will also accelerate discovery of new diagnostic, prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
