Shrink Unemployment and Blackouts

Nigeria has for long opened its gate to the importation of all its needs.This status means the country is the showroom for all manner of finished products from all over the world, and as such, technically, does not need electricity on an industrial scale. With this goes the consequences of low demand which would not attract investors to the power sector. The remedy may be to subsidise the energy bills of industrial producers to nurse the moribund factories back to life and attract new manufacturing ones to stimulate massive power consumption. To enjoy uninterrupted electricity, Nigerians may have to cut down on the importation of finished products and patronise made-in Nigeria goods, which will demand a significant amount of power. Ultimately, investment in the energy for industrial use will cascade into constant supply to homes and discounts the households' tariffs.
