Self Instructional Modules on Peace Values: an Instructional Package

Peace education is the study of how to keep peace in all of its forms and conditions. It is the process of transmitting knowledge, skills, and behaviours in order to promote peace. Peace education attempts to promote peace and discourage violence. Peace education entails not only the absence of war, bloodshed, and rioting, but also the development of skills and behaviours that improve students' ability to solve problems constructively. The basic goal of peace education is to change a war-based society into a peace-based culture. Respect for caste, creed, and sex is promoted through peace education. It encourages people to think differently about violence and conflicts, and it has a constructive attitude toward achieving the objective of peace. Peace education also promotes a sense of peace, nonviolence, and social justice in order to eliminate prejudices, violent behaviour, bullying, and civil wars, among other things. Peace education is more than just a subject that is taught in school. It serves as a tool for achieving social justice, living in harmony with one another, adhering to moral rights and obligations, and acknowledging one's relationship with all other beings.
