Segmentation Algorithms for Retinal Image Analysis

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a snare of diabetes and is a critical purpose behind visual disability in many countries. Diabetic Retinopathy is a progressive disease that results from vascular injury due to chronic hyperglycemia. It is the leading cause of blindness in working age adults. Hence DR is one of the major diseases that cause severe threat to the eye, which causes thereby blindness among the people of any age.There are five algorithms developed for retinal image gradingEven though, different methods are available for retinal segmentation, there is still space for improvement. Manual segmentation of the retinal blood vessels is difficult and time-consuming, thus the developed algorithms are an automated algorithms which can provide better results over manual labeling.
