Seed Mycoflora of Chickpea (Cicer arietinum, L.)

Detailed work has been done on the problem on different pulse yielding crops of the world but has not received considerable attention on the study of Mycoflora of Chickpea seeds as the crop has limited number of growing countries in the world. Little information is available on seed borne maladies, their nature and parasitism of fungi associated with the seeds individually or in combination on seeds, seedlings and plant health of the varieties of the crops Chickpea (Cicer arietinum) .the present investigation the mycoflora associated with dif-ferent varieties of seeds of Chickpea (Cicer arietinum). Obtained from different states of the country viz., K-85, PANT G-114, H-208, H-355, RS-10, C-235, G-543, BR-78, ST-4 and RADHEY and their effects on the health of seeds seedlings and plants was studied. The prevalence and effect of different kinds of fungi associated with the seeds in different kinds of containers, length of storage, temperatures and relative humidity were studied.
