Seed keepers of the Cachapoal province, Chile

The following text is based on empirical research carried out during 2017 in a portion of the Cachapoal Valley, in search of traditional seeds that have resisted the great loss brought about by technification and the introduction of hybrid varieties. The role of farmers has been fundamental in maintaining our Agro-Food Heritage, becoming Guardians of a heritage that is maintained in the fields, through painstaking and silent work, being part of our Intangible Cultural Heritage. This project has the potential, like seeds, to multiply and start a new cycle through the interpretation and action of the reader. Just as the seed lies dormant waiting to be cultivated by a peasant or farmer, the words of this book seek to deliver a message of appreciation and protection of our Natural and Intangible Heritage, through the presentation of the results of the research.
