Seafood Security in a Changing Climate

Seafood supplies are facing a serious challenge from overexploitation coupled with effects of climate change. Loss of biodiversity, and degradation of trophic structure and critical habitats in the sea have reduced the resilience of marine ecosystem. Decline in marine capture fisheries as a result of these factors is sought to be compensated by increase in aquaculture production. A great deal of scientific investigations and synthesis of information from available data are required to adapt capture fisheries and aquaculture to changing environment.
