Screening and Awareness of Hepatitis B

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver. The condition can be self-limiting or can progress to fibrosis (scarring), cirrhosis or liver cancer. Hepatitis Viruses are the most common cause of hepatitis in the world but other infections, toxic substances (e.g. alcohol, certain drugs), and autoimmune diseases can also cause hepatitis.Approximately 1 in 12 persons worldwide, or some 500 million people, are living with chronic viral hepatitis. Viral hepatitis is among the top 10 infectious disease killers and the leading cause of liver cancer and cirrhosis.The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of Hepatitis Virus B and Risk factor of Hepatitis and also awareness of Hepatitis in Sindh University students Jamshoro Sindh.
