About Schooling and Social Conflict: One of the paradoxical observations made about the developing world in the ¿late 20th and early 21st centuries by social experts, is the increase in social and ¿communal tensions as societies are forced to modernize their technology and ¿infra-structure and adopt neo-liberal policies when running their economies. ¿All across the world nations have witnessed a rise in religious fundamentalism ¿and tensions among communities based on ethnic and religious differences. ¿Schools in general and the curriculum in particular have been played both a ¿positive and negative role in furthering or ameliorating these tensions.
