Satatus of Chlorinated Pesticide Residue in Some Selected Vegetables

Vegetables are very important group of crops due to their major contribution in human diet especially for nutrients and vitamins. To grow more vegetable productions, most of the farmers particularly in the developing countries like Bangladesh apply pesticide without knowing its actual requirements and/or effectiveness. Indiscriminate uses of pesticides lead to decreased biodiversity of flora and fauna and ultimately create a problem to human body. Reliable data are needed concerning the presence of pesticides outside the targets in order to set priorities for actions to remedy and prevent pollution. Therefore, it is very essential to set a residue analysis program of pesticides especially in the urban market of Bangladesh. In this regards, this book will give an idea how to analyze and identify the toxic substances using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GCMS). It also helps to know the market conditions of selling vegetables in the Dhaka city area.
