Ethiopia is known in livestock population which stood first in Africa and 10th in the word. However, the production and productivity of livestock per head is still very low in the country. This is due to primarily the shortage of animal feed in the country. Moreover, due to increasing human population that shifts the grazing lands to crop land worsen the productivity of livestock. Hence animal feed is the bottleneck to livestock production in the nation. Therefore, improving animal feed through the use of grass/legumes intercropping has a paramount important particularly in the highlands of Ethiopia. Forage mixture has been becoming more common in the past several years. Therefore, this research primarily focuses on the benefit of forage intercropping to improve quality with a possible boost in yield.
