Road Traffic Accidents: Analysis of Injury Profile

Vehicle accidents continue to be a major public health problem with increasing contribution to mortality, morbidity, and disability. Vehicle trauma is the leading cause of death in young people and one of the commonest causes of death overall.The mechanism of injury influences the patterns of injury seen after vehicle trauma. Previous reports have attempted to delineate the epidemiological characteristics, injury profiles,and contributing risk factors among the various categories of road-users.Knowledge of these features is a key element in identification and evaluation of preventive actions, and it has important clinical implications concerning the care of these patients.
