Risk Manager in Commercial Real Estate

Regardless of their legal status, owners and managers of corporate real estate assets offer a wide range of products that can generate exposures to both their own assets and those of their suppliers, employees and occupants.The Risk Manager must be vigilant in dealing with both the day-to-day functional and operational exposures related to the holding of these assets. There are several possible classifications of asset owners depending on the legal status of the owner and the use of the asset: offices, retail, residential housing, industrial buildings/warehouses.The general framework of this sector of activity is highly regulated by law.Independently of the legal rules of common law (codes), framework laws set the principles of organization, controls and the role of the supervisory authorities over these actors. These laws are particularly relevant to labor law and the environment, where there are numerous exposures and tend to become more and more restrictive for investors and/or managers of commercial real estate assets.
