Risk management in medical institutions

How does the Risk Manager apprehend exposures and their treatment in medical establishments? The aging of the population in France and throughout the world is certain and lasting. Given the increase in the life expectancy of their parents, families are confronted with the management of their elderly when they become old and/or dependent. The vast majority of them are cared for by medical establishments. Regardless of their status, healthcare institutions offer a wide range of diversified services, which can generate exposures for the institution, its suppliers, employees and residents. The Risk Manager must be vigilant in dealing with both day-to-day functional and operational exposures, including those that emerge within existing or newly formed groups of facilities. There are various general risk management guidelines and some more specific to the sector. The role of the Risk Manager is to combine them in order to allow an exhaustive management, in particular for an efficient treatment by the transfer to insurance.
