Reproductive biology of Menippe frontalis (Decapoda, Brachyura)

The present work aims to contribute to the knowledge of the fishing biology of Menippe frontalis, through the analysis of the information of the samplings carried out in the Parish of Posorja - Guayaquil canton - Guayas province, during November 2014 to May 2015, the methodology of biological study was used by points of location and dissection of organisms, which identified specific sites, characterized by the usual concurrence of fishing. We collected 840 specimens from which the different morphometric data were obtained. The percentage in relation to sex was 30.5% for males and 69.5% for females with a male/female ratio of 2:3. Weight-height estimated for this study represented an average of 346.03±52.7635 g, (p ¿ 0.05) and the correlation coefficient of r=0.612 and in the average size at sexual maturity (L50% =9.21cm of total width of cephalothorax).In the IGS index obtained in this study was 3.3146±1.1957 the highest value and 2.8232±1.4225 the lowest value in females, while for males high values of 1.4876±0.6335 and low values of 0.8772± 0.1008 were recorded.
