Regenerative Endodontics

The art and science of regeneration has always drawn the attention of scientific brains time and again, so much so that it now has emerged as a separate branch, a separate field ¿ the field of ¿regenerative medicine¿. In dentistry, this field has taken the shape and emerged as the field of ¿regenerative dentistry¿ which focuses on harnessing the power of stem cells and the body¿s own regenerative capabilities to restore function to damaged cells, tissues and organs. Over years, the treatment of non-vital infected teeth has been the cause of concern for every dentist. They have long been treated with root canal therapy ( for mature root apex) and apexification ( for immature root apex) or worse, doomed to extraction. Although successful, the endodontic treatment is known to cause loss of a significant amount of dentin, leaving as life lasting sequelae ¿ a non-vital and weakened tooth. Regenerative endodontics , has brought about a paradigm shift in how one now looks at these compromised teeth. This book gives a detailed account of the modality, the technique and its scope.
